There has never been a time in human history where the potential to reach across the world with a common purpose and vision could be so easily achieved.
It is estimated that by 2020, 80% of the global population will be using a smartphone.
Wonderful little boxes of digital technology that contain all we need to know about the world, written by the world.
It’s an incredible statistic, 80% and it effectively means that over 6 billion people are in near constant communication… with each other.
Working with partners in the United Bible Societies fellowship and other global organisations, SBS is launching an innovative and ground breaking project encouraging the church worldwide to join together in proclaiming God’s Word.
The vision is simple: build a smart phone App to deliver daily Bible verses in the users chosen language.
Encourage people to read those verses aloud in their present location, be that a village, city, countryside or town, wherever people are.
Film those verses being read using the ‘selfie’ function on the smartphone and then upload the clip to a global platform where everyone everywhere can be seen proclaiming truth together.
Part of a global movement
Imagine a website full of individual faces all proclaiming the same passage of Scripture in the different languages from across the world.
Individual people, unknown to each other but known by God, connected by a common purpose; to proclaim the message of the Bible.
On the 1st January 2020 the sun will rise first in Gisborne, New Zealand and from there we hope a wave of Bible reading will progress around the globe, from country to country, nation to nation, with people uploading their contributions until a new day dawns and new verses begin on January 2nd.
366 days of Bible reading saturating the earth and covering God’s creation with His Word.
Will you be part of it?
It’s an ambitious vision but has the potential to see thousands of lives transformed.
To date interest has been registered from 32 countries, we hope to gain momentum in many more.
