Dear Theo – helping young people engage with the Bible
We are delighted to announce the launch of an accessible version of Luke and Acts in one volume called “Dear Theo – Letters to a Friend”, to help young people get to know Jesus better.
“I am doing this for you, most excellent Theophilus. I want you to know that the things you have been taught are true.” Luke 1 (NIRV)
Whether Theophilus was a real friend of Luke, or if he was using a generic term to include all “friends of God”, Luke creates a beautiful personal start to his account of Jesus’ life, death, resurrection, ascension and the spreading of the incredible news through the Holy Spirit.
Luke was keen that we knew that these books were written so that the reader would get to know Jesus!
An easy-to-read format with great illustrations
Dear Theo uses the text of the New International Reader’s Version (NIrV) which has been produced to be read and understood more easily.
The chapters and verses have also been removed to make it read like other books we are used to.
Jason Ramasami’s illustrations add a quirky addition to the story providing an opportunity for conversation around what they represent.
We are excited to be able to offer these books at only £1 a copy when you order ten or more copies.
Engaging resources to go with Dear Theo
In Autumn of 2019 we will be releasing resources to be used alongside the books.
The resources will contain thirty session outlines designed to help young people aged 10 -14 years (P6 -S2) explore the books together.
Alongside these sessions will be six all-age events based around some of the stories in the book, to help churches get people of many generations together to engage with the Bible.
