Teenagers in many urban areas live in places where gang culture is rife. Many of them come from fragmented homes where their parents have left the country for work and they live instead with grandparents or an uncle.
Often these young people have a hard time choosing their path in life, but schools provide a safe place for them. The Bible Society in El Salvador is working with schools to teach Biblical values. They aim to encourage pupils to trust what God says in his Word, become less fearful and make the right life choices.
