This Christmas
Share the light
of Christ.
As Christmas approaches, amidst the joy of gift-giving, may we invite you to consider giving one more precious gift – the gift of a Bible, a beacon of hope and light.
Each Christmas, we recall the message brought by angels to the shepherds. That message of hope and joy is one we’re all called to share, and with your help, we can offer that same hope and joy to people who are longing to experience God’s Word firsthand.
Your Christmas donation will bring the message of hope to people like Lakanue in Liberia.
Lakanue is a member of a small Church in Nimba County and is passionate about the current Dan language Bible translation project. For her, this translation represents a future where her faith is alive in her own heart language, the Dan language.
One day, she watched women reading from a different translation for the Maan community and a powerful desire stirred within her. “I was moved,” she shares, “and I knew I wanted this for my people and my children too.”
She immediately joined a literacy class, which meant walking for an hour each way from her village to learn to read. Her hope is not only to hold the Dan Bible in her hands but also to be able to teach its truths to future generations.
“When I am able to read the Bible in Dan, I’ll teach my children and other young women Biblical truths that will help them grow into good mothers and respectful adults.”
For Lakanue, this translation isn’t just a project—it’s a lifeline to a stronger, faith-filled future. Her journey shows how having God’s Word in one’s own language transforms lives, strengthens families, and builds community.
There are many like Lakanue who are waiting for the transforming power of God’s Word in their lives. Your Christmas gift can bring them hope through the Gospel message, giving them a Bible to cherish and rely on in their own journey of faith.
At age 40, Maria’s life took a new direction when her aunt gifted her an old Bible.
This unexpected gift led her to start attending church, and over time, she felt God drawing her closer. Leaving behind her former life, Maria began to truly understand God’s love and wisdom through Scripture.
Recently, Maria received her very own Bible from the Bible Society in Cuba. When she opened it to Ecclesiastes and read, “There is a time for everything,” the words struck her deeply. She realized God was speaking directly to her heart, reminding her that her past was behind her and that this new chapter was part of His plan.
“Now, my Bible impacts my life every day,” Maria shares. For her, it’s not just a book; it’s a constant reminder that God is with her in every season of life.
Help bring the Bible to others like Maria. Your support allows people to receive their own copy of God’s Word - a gift that changes lives, brings peace, and guides them into a closer relationship with Him.
In Haiti’s intense political, economic, and social struggles, the Haitian Bible Society is unwavering in its mission to bring hope to the country’s most vulnerable—its children. In a time marked by extreme poverty, violence, and recent tragedies, they are working tirelessly to distribute Scriptures to schoolchildren, believing in the power of faith God to bring light in the darkest of times.
For these children who live with daily hardship and fear, receiving a Bible is more than a gift—it’s a source of comfort, strength, and resilience. They recognize that the Word of God can offer solace and a sense of hope, even amid crisis.
Your donation today will allow us to place the Bible in the hands of those who need it most, in places like Liberia, Cuba, Haiti, as well as here in Scotland.
In Scotland, your support has allowed us to develop new, contemporary resources like our latest Christmas outreach material, “There is light”, which you can explore here.
Our ‘Bibles for Bairns’ initiative reaches even the youngest children, giving parents and carers resources to share the stories of faith with little ones. Through reading the Bible together, families can start building a foundation in Jesus’ love.
