To read the Holy Bible is to feel simultaneously at home, a citizen of the world, and a traveller through eternity.
Andrew Motion, Poet Laureate 1999 – 2009

Commonwealth New Testament cover
The modern day Commonwealth is a significant grouping of 53 member countries and territories, accounting for 2.2 billion people – approximately 30% of the global population.

Once every four years, the Commonwealth nations gather together in the sporting arena of the Commonwealth Games. During the summer of 2014, the games came to Scotland. To celebrate the fellowship and unity found in the Commonwealth, we produced a commemorative edition of the New Testament.

The book features contributions from across the globe – the contributors sharing their thoughts on the Bible’s influence and impact in their part of the Commonwealth.

We are delighted that Her Majesty the Queen has written an introduction to the book and set the context for the pages within.

This is a unique book with a limited print run, intended to be an inspiration for all who read it around the world.
