Fiddes's Story
—Fiddes Lungu moved to Nkhata-bay in pursuit of a better life. But in 2022, tragedy struck as a fierce storm destroyed her home, and took the life of her son.
Overwhelmed by grief, Fiddes considered suicide, feeling the weight of losing everything. Following a number of failed suicide attempts, her marriage began to unravel.
Hope arrived through the Family Scripture Engagement Packs by the Bible Society of Malawi. Selected as a beneficiary, Fiddes received a Bible and a Bible study guide. Initially hesitant, she embraced the materials, and her life took a transformative turn.
Immersing herself in the Scriptures, Fiddes found solace in 1 Peter 5:7: ‘Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.’ Trusting in the Lord, her suicidal thoughts waned, replaced by newfound inner peace.
‘I no longer cry as I used to,’ Fiddes shared, her eyes reflecting resilience. ‘My family has been brought together because of this Bible. If not for the Bible, I would have committed suicide by now.’
