How the gift of Good News changes lives
People are yearning for the Word
Today, across our world, people are yearning for the Word of God to guide, comfort, and transform their lives. The need for Bibles is greater than ever and you can help provide Bibles to those who have never held one. You can help bring light to communities living in spiritual darkness.
Your support today can make this possible.
Never underestimate the incredible impact your generosity can have.
Awakened from Darkness
Bao’ai, lives in a remote village in Southwestern China. When his wife fell ill, he really struggled to cope. There were very few Bibles available in his heart language and he lacked spiritual guidance and support. He felt lost and resorted to superstitious rituals.
But everything changed when a new translation of the Bible in the Wa language became available.
As he immersed himself in the Scriptures, Bao’ai’s life was transformed. His entire family now studies the Bible together, which has led to a spiritual revival in their community. Bao’ai says, ‘After reading the Bible, I felt a surge of strength and empowerment. It was as if I had awakened from the darkness and gained clarity.’
Your gift can help bring more people from the darkness into light.
A Strong Foundation
Emmanuel managed to escape from a cult in Africa and went to Dubai as a migrant worker. It was there that he was profoundly affected by the gift of a Bible while listening to a street preacher.
Emmanuel put the cult past firmly behind him and through Bible Society supported training, he became a storyteller, sharing Bible stories with migrant workers. He says, ‘It is by the grace of God that I am here today, doing my best to reach as many people as possible with the Word of God. I thank the Bible Society in the Gulf for my Bible and the training in the storytelling method. I thank God that they were there for me.’
The Bible Society are relying on your prayers and financial support to help share the Good News.
Your support will help bring the transformative truth and hope of the Gospel to all people.
Will you give to the tireless work of the Bible Society, giving the gift of God’s Word to transform lives?
Telling out the Story
In Cuba, there is huge desire to have a Bible of your own. The church is growing with people becoming Christians daily. The Cuban Bible Society visited Reina’s church after hearing of their need for Bibles. They brought copies of the Bible for everyone in the congregation.
As Reina was given her Bible, she took it in her hands and began to kiss it. For the fi rst time she had her own copy of God’s Word! Her excitement was clear; this Bible would help her to evangelise and tell more people about God’s salvation plan.
Reina burst into tears and told the Bible Society staff, ‘This is what God has called me to do - to share God’s Word with others.’
Her tears that day show us, far more than words can tell, what it is like not to have Bibles when serving the Church.
‘The support you are offering schools is first class and has really benefited us.’

A Hunger for Bible Resources in Scottish Schools
Many people in Scotland believe that the Bible can no longer be taught in our schools, but that is not true! Many teachers struggle to fi nd good, age-specific Bible resources for their classes but given the right help, they are keen to see the Bible taught well in our schools.
Sue Thompson, our Educational Resources Manager, has provided ten RME training days for schools this year already, with seven more booked through the Autumn term. Each day models the best use of our Must Know Bible Stories resources with the children in the classroom, followed by a bespoke training session on the Bible within the Scottish curriculum for staff.
‘Sue came to my class twice to help us explore what the Bible says about creation and my class had a fantastic time. I enjoyed seeing how the outdoor learning let the children freely explore the story.’
(Teacher, Scotstown Primary, Aberdeen).
Sharing the Bible in Difficult Places
In regions where Christianity is suppressed, such as Morocco and Algeria, access to the Bible is a lifeline. Pressure on Christians in Algeria is increasing. Many churches meet in secret, and threats, intimidation, and abuse of Christians in society is common.
One Christian, ‘D’, calls the Bible her ‘armour’ in a hostile environment.
Another believer, ‘A’, finds comfort in Scriptures, especially Psalm 46, saying, ‘If I didn’t have this possibility to talk to Jesus all the time, I would die.’ For these believers, the Word of God is essential for strength and encouragement.
Your gift today can help share the Bible in difficult places.
